Data Saved My Life: How to onboard thousands of users before your morning coffee

In an ideal world, learners would be served just-in-time content relevant to their position and interests. But we know that this is not always possible. This session, led by Amazon, will focus on how to get multitudes of users onboarded and ready to perform job functions through Cornerstone Learning. The central concept of this session is a data-centric approach to segregating your learner population into meaningful and relevant units to be able to serve content to the right people at the right time. Why Penn Community Bank is Banking on Employee Mentoring

In this client session, Penn Community Bank will showcase its Retail Mentoring Program using Cornerstone. The company’s new program has allowed it to measure employees’ skills gaps during their first 30, 60 and 90 days on the job — something they were previously unable to accomplish. The company has moved its paper-based process for its Mentor Program into automated observation checklists and probationary period 30-, 60- and 90-day review tasks. Managers are now completing these tasks in a timely manner, which has positively affected the talent team’s ability to identify skills gaps and implement early prevention techniques. Leaders can now measure the positive impact this approach has had on reducing turnover and increasing retention and the added transparency has created an environment of accountability, honest and open communication, and coachable moments at all levels.

Keynote: The New Leadership Literacies: Thriving in a Future of Extreme Disruption and Distributed Everything

Over the next decade, our world will become more connected than ever before. Anything that can be distributed will be distributed: workforces, organizations, supply webs and more. The tired practices of centralized organizations will become brittle in a future where authority is radically decentralized. Rigid hierarchies will give way to liquid structures. Most leaders — and most organizations — aren’t ready for this future. Are you?

Based on his book, “The New Leadership Literacies: Thriving in a Future of Extreme Disruption and Distributed Everything,” noted futurist and distinguished Institute for the Future fellow Bob Johansen will go beyond skills and competencies to propose five new leadership literacies — combinations of disciplines, practices and worldviews — that will be needed to thrive in a world of increasing volatility, uncertainty, complexity and ambiguity.

Bob Johansen, Distinguished Fellow, Institute of the Future

Keynote: The Millennial and Gen Z Mind

Millennials may be the most studied generation in history. Considering they will make up 75% of the workforce by 2025, it comes as no surprise. The challenge lies in knowing how to recruit, retain and reward this new era as they puzzle their parents as much as their bosses. In this insightful presentation, a millennial himself dissects the mind of his generation and Gen Z to inspire you about the possibilities and opportunities they can bring.

Takeaways to include:

  • Understanding what motivates and drives millennials;
  • Understanding how to communicate with millennials;
  • Knowing when a millennial is worth investing in;
  • Changing the way you view all generations.

Cross-Module Coordination: An Essential Step for a Successful Implementation

A critical step for a successful multi-module deployment is the coordination of resources, requirements and expectations around features that span multiple functional areas. Are the skills you are emphasizing in a job posting different from the skills you are asking your existing workforce to develop? Are the competencies assessed during the performance process tied to development items in your learning catalog? Do the teams that manage recruiting, performance, learning and other HR functions in your organization work together today? During this session, we’ll explore these questions and highlight areas that require cross-module coordination, as well as provide tips for creating a framework to help navigate these areas during implementation and beyond.

Meeting the Needs of the Modern Learner

Planning for the Future: Mapping Skills and Competencies to Employee Growth
Business Process Owner

Gender Pay Equity: How to Consciously Uncover Unconscious Bias

Consider this: less than 15 percent of American men are over six feet tall, yet almost 60 percent of CEOs are over six feet tall. Judgments are unconscious, biased or otherwise. We are not consciously aware of making them and we are not aware of how they influence our decisions, feelings or behavior. Unconscious bias in decisions is also not necessarily evidence that a person is biased, but they have extended into our employment practices for years and, consequently, gender pay equity continues despite talent leaders’ best effort to adapt and address this issue. They are also not removed by good intentions, so we must become conscious. In this session, you’ll learn how to: accept that the brain uses these techniques and understand when it happens; recognize and address the types of bias in a conscious way; understand that the process is continuous within an organization and what to do about it.

Analyst Keynote

Co-Founder and CEO
Aptitude Research Partners

Over the past two decades the relationship between employer and employee has evolved from a transactional one, into one of engagement. But engagement of the individual with the organization is not enough. Engagement is giving way to employee experience – an experience that brings together HCM technology, strategy, and leadership to help the organization align and deliver customer results.

Organizations are also realizing that their human capital technologies need to deliver more than just one experience. They need to be powerful transaction engines for administrative users. They need to be simple to use and be meaningful for individuals. And they need to deliver information that helps business leaders make better decisions. These are very different views of the role of technology – solutions for them, me, and we.

Based on the latest research from Aptitude Research Partners, this session will address how top performing companies are leveraging their investment in human capital technology to bring to life to an employee experience based on:

  • Communication: Bridging the gap between employer and employee through more frequent and bidirectional communications.
  • Personalization: Providing a personalized experience to meet the needs of HR practitioners, business leaders, and employees from one unified solution.
  • Simplification: Lowering the barriers to access information and execute key process so people can focus on the work and the results.

How do you create moments that are memorable and meaningful? During his Convergence keynote, drawing from his forthcoming book, The Power of Moments, Heath will reveal the four elements that create defining moments. Armed with an understanding of these elements, we can be the authors of moments that spark delight, connection and insight.
